New home construction fell to the lowest level of the year in June, but there were indications of increased activity in coming months, the government said Tuesday.
Housing starts fell 5% from May to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 549,000 last month, the Commerce Department said.

Factory orders fall 1.4 percent in May

Orders to U.S. factories declined broadly in May after nine straight months of gains, raising new concerns that the recovery is stalling.
The Commerce Department said Friday that orders for cgoods decreased 1.4 percent in May. It was the biggest drop since March 2009.
